Calvary Chapel Cumberland Valley

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
      Matthew 19:14

At Calvary Chapel Cumberland Valley, our mission is to stand beside parents as they raise their children in the fear and admonition of the Lord by providing:

  1. Systematic study through the Bible
  2. Teaching at each child’s level of understanding
  3. Clear presentation of the Gospel message
  4. Fun activities that make the Bible lessons real to children
  5. An opportunity for children to pray together and to serve the Lord
  6. A safe, Christ-centered environment for learning and fellowship

Sunday Mornings

Children’s Worship
On Sunday Morning’s our Children’s programs begin with a time of song worship in our Fellowship Hall. At the end of the song worship time theyare dismissed to their respective classes.
Preschool (age 4-pre K and K)
The preschool class meets in the fellowship hall for a New Testament Bible lesson geared specifically for their age group. The preschool class also enjoys crafts and activities that enhance their understanding of the lesson.
Primary (Grades 1-3)
The primary class also meets in the fellowship hall for a New Testament Bible lesson. The lesson includes related crafts and activities. The Primary class also participates in practical ministry and service, by assisting the preschool class with setup, and writing letters to missionary kids and our sponsored children.
Elementary (Grades 4-6)
Also known as the “Tower Kids”, our elementary class meets in our bell tower library/classroom for a New Testament Bible Study. In addition to the learning activities associated with the lessons, the elementary class participates in practical ministry by setting up refreshments after service, and by writing to missionary kids and our sponsored children.
Nursery Ministry (Infants and Toddlers up age 3)
Please bring your babies and toddlers downstairs to the nursery area. You will receive a key tag numbered when you sign your child in. Should your child need your attention before the end of the service, we will post this number on the screen in the sanctuary to notify you.
Toddlers (about 18 months to age 3)
While you are in the adult service, your child will enjoy a Bible Story, snack, prayer time and the opportunity to fellowship with other children. Using Children’s Bibles, Bible storybooks, tapes, and video formats designed for young children, we seek to familiarize these little ones with the great stories of both the Old and New Testaments. Our caring staff encourages sharing and cooperation as we care for your precious little ones. Be sure to alert us to any special dietary needs, food allergies, or special instructions you may have concerning the care of your child.
Infants and Nursing Moms
The two small rooms adjoining the Fellowship Hall are reserved for infants and nursing moms. The first room, which is a playroom reserved for infants and crawling babies, has live video of the adult service. The back room is a Quiet Room where children can nap and nursing moms and their infants can have more privacy. We will gladly care for your child while you attend the adult service, or you are welcome to stay with your child and watch the adult service on TV.

Wednesday Nights

Kids Club (ages 3 though Grade 6)
After Wednesday evening worship (in the sanctuary) children meet in the fellowship hall for an Old Testament Bible Lesson. The Clubhouse Kids also work on memorizing verses, with memory verse homework each week, and activities such as Bible quiz drills.
Nursery (Up to Age 3)
On Wednesday nights, the nursery is not staffed. There is a speaker (with volume control) so you can hear the message if you choose to stay downstairs with your infant or toddler.

Curriculum

Sunday Children’s Church
The children are studying the New Testament in chronological order. The entire series takes 4 years to complete. Each class studies the same passage on the same day, although the lessons and activities are designed specifically for each age group. Teachers adapt the lesson to meet the specific needs of the individuals in their classes.
Wednesday Kid’s Club
On Wednesdays the children are studying through the Old Testament using the Calvary Chapel Children’s Curriculum. Lessons include Bible memory verses and Bible drills.
Practical Ministry Opportunities
We encourage all of the children to become involved in practical ministry as they are able. The Tower Kids set up and serve refreshments after Sunday Services. The Primary students set up chairs for their class as well as for the Preschool class. All of the children, through cards, pictures, & letters, encourage the children of our missionaries and our sponsored children around the world. Special service projects are included in our lessons on a regular basis.
